Hello football fans
Barcelona boss Xavi has asked the club to re-sign Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi joined PSG on a free transfer from Barca last year but he failed to reach the same heights as in Catalonia.
It comes after the Blaugrana were held 0-0 by Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, with new strikers Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha failing to get on the scoresheet.
As a result, Xavi is now eager to bring at least two more attacking players to Camp Nou.
And according to journalist Guillem Balague, the Spanish tactician wants former team-mate Messi back.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have made Chelsea ace Conor Gallagher their top target in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, SunSport’s Dan King reports.
The Magpies would also like to sign Leicester star James Maddison, but their hopes of landing him are currently slim.
So, the Toon will now step up their bid to persuade the Blues to sell their £40m-rated midfielder.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel insists he remains a ‘big fan’ of the England international.
But Tuchel acknowledges the challenge Gallagher faces to earn a place in his starting X, and admits every player has their price.
And Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was offered to Inter Milan and AC Milan this summer.
But both Milan clubs turned down the option to sign Ronaldo before the September 1 deadline.
It would mean the star striker has now been rejected by at least nine clubs this summer.
Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have all been offered the Portugal captain.
Finally, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted he is ready to let Arsenal target Youri Tielemans terminate his contract and go on a free transfer next summer.
Rodgers told The Times: “It’s not ideal but it’s happened before – players have gone here for free before.
“He wouldn’t be the first, but right now it’s about keeping an eye on the team and the group, making sure they’re ready.
“The club will negotiate and discuss with player representatives from across the team.
“So far there is no change in Youri’s situation, there are no offers. So he continues to work well and do well at the start of the season.
“Youri is a top international, so every game he plays, in fact every training session that Youri plays, he tries to be the best player he can be.
“There’s a lot of speculation about him, but he’s looking to prove a point in every game he plays”
