According to Calciomercato, agent for Tottenham’s alleged target Miralem Pjanic will travel to Italy in the coming days to work on a transfer deal to bring his client back to Serie A.

Pjanic has endured a season to be forgotten after moving to Camp Nou 12 months ago and is now considered to be in excess of Barcelona’s needs.

It was first reported in early July that Tottenham football general manager Fabio Paratici had approached Barcelona about signing the midfielder on loan.

Reports from Spain have since suggested that Chelsea and Arsenal could also challenge Pjanic’s signing this summer, with the player’s agent “working against the clock” to find a new club for his client.

CalcioMercato has now claimed that Pjanic would prefer to return to Serie A this summer, with Massimiliano Allegri keen to bring the midfielder back to Juventus.

The report adds that Inter Milan have also expressed interest in the 31-year-old and that his agent, Fali Ramadani, will be flying to Milan to settle a transfer.

Spurs web opinion

I suspect the main reason the Tottenham name was thrown into the mix for Pjanic was because of the Paratici connection. The Bosnian doesn’t quite fit the profile of the players Spurs usually look for due to his age and potential lack of resale value. However, that said, there isn’t too much downside to signing the experienced midfielder on loan.
