The East Haven Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of Lobsterpalooza, which will take place Wednesday, August 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., rain or shine at Anthony’s Oceanview, 450 Lighthouse Road, New Haven.
“This year, as things started to open up, the system was a little shocked to start planning events again, but it’s great to be able to host an event in person again, especially since this is the 10th anniversary, ”said Jennifer Higham, Speaker of the House. “We know how much the community is looking forward to this event and it is high time to come together again. “
The event originated as East Haven Lobster Fest 11 years ago, when Big Prints’ Mark Azzolina first launched it. As the event progressed, Azzolina began to call her Lobsterpalooza, which stuck. As the event grew, Higham decided that his company, Jennifer Higham Photography, would sponsor the creation of a mascot.
“Leo the lobster was born and became the mascot of the chamber,” Higham said, noting that Leo will be making an appearance at the event.
This year’s event, co-chaired by Jim Oca and Lorrie Maiorano, marks Lobsterpalooza’s 10th anniversary. Tickets ($ 75) must be reserved by August 15 and include appetizers, dinner, t-shirt, and entertainment.
Each guest will receive a steak and lobster as well as an assortment of appetizers. A cash bar will be available. In addition, the full menu also includes burgers, hot dogs, salad, clam chowder, Italian bread, pasta salad, corn on the cob, barbecued ribs, wedges of barbecued roast chicken, steamed mussels, zuppa di clams, orrechiettes and a potato salad.
“If you go away hungry, something is wrong,” Higham said. “People just enjoy the entertainment and all the food well. It’s a fun event that has grown tremendously over the past 10 years.
Lobsterpalooza 2021 is luau-themed and guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian prints or outfits. There will be a raffle as well as musical entertainment by Timmy Maia and the Boys.
Lobsterpalooza is one of the largest chamber events for community and business. The event is a fundraiser for the East Haven Chamber of Commerce, whose mission is to “facilitate all aspects of growing your business by providing opportunities for networking, web and social media networking, advertising and education. It is clear that our goal is you. Through the chamber, you will have the opportunity to work with local business owners, community advocates, and local and state lawmakers towards the same goal; growth and success.
Tickets for the event are available at easthavenchamber.com/lobsterpalooza.
“We have a few surprises in the works and they come together,” Higham said. “We love that so many of our members are involved with the community. It is an event that everyone is looking forward to.
