Pete Alonso and his wife Haley aren’t the only ones enjoying the MLB offseason in Italy.
On Tuesday, Kate Upton posted a cozy photo with her husband Justin Verlander on Instagram from their European getaway with their daughter Genevieve, 3.
“We loved visiting Italy! It was so much fun to travel again. We have visited so many amazing sites and learned so much about the history of Florence and Rome, ”said Upton, 29, captioned the post.
Verlander, 38, also shared some family photos from the trip on his Instagram page, including a snap of the trio posing inside the Colosseum.
“I’m grateful for times like this. Vivi loved the Colosseum… obviously she couldn’t bother to take a picture, ”he joked on Sunday.
Italy holds a special place in the heart of Verlander and Upton as the couple got married in Tuscany in November 2017. The nuptials took place after Verlander and the Astros won the World Series.
As for Verlander’s sequel, it’s not really clear.
In November, it was widely believed that Verlander would return to the Astros as part of a deal that would pay the two-time Cy Young Award winner $ 50 million over two years with an option to opt out after the first year.
But, as noted Jon Heyman, MLB Network Insider Last week, the renewal of Verlander-Astros was never officially announced by Houston until the MLB lockdown was instituted last week.
Heyman tweeted that the Verlander deal is “probably unofficial,” adding at the time, “this means Verlander and Astros have to wait to finalize a new ACA. It is unclear why the deal signaled it. 2 weeks ago is now in limbo. “
Verlander, who is also an eight-time All-Star, has missed most of the past two seasons with Tommy John surgery.
