Heathrow and Gatwick: Foreign Office’s latest travel tips for Spain, France, Italy and Germany

The European countries of Spain, France, Italy and Germany are the favorite summer destinations for British holidaymakers.

Anyone planning to visit any of these destinations this year will need to be aware of the current Covid rules.

Thursday (June 24) saw the announcement of the second review of destinations deemed safe by the government.

The green list has grown from 11 countries to 27, the changes of which will take effect from June 30.

The countries on the green list are the only places the government currently recommends traveling on vacation.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “You shouldn’t go on vacation to an Orange List country”

Speaking to the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said: ‘It is very, very clear – you should not go to an Amber List country except in extreme circumstances, such as serious illness of a member. of the family.

“You shouldn’t go to an Orange List country on vacation.”

Anyone wishing to travel abroad will need to know about the changes that have been made. Here is what we know.

Countries on the green list so far include:

Madeira, Malta, the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza), Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Turks & Caicos, British Antarctic Territory , British Indian Ocean Territory, Montserrat, Pitcairn Islands, Israel and Jerusalem, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Iceland, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and Saint Helena , Tristan de Cunha, Ascension Island.

Reviews are expected to be done every three weeks, so the next one will likely be announced on July 15, unless the government requests one sooner.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said: “These regular review points will allow the government to balance helping the public understand Covid requirements while traveling to England while allowing us to continuously assess the risk for different countries. “

Unfortunately, no country from Spain, France, Italy and Germany has been added to the green list, although it meets the UK criteria and is expected to appear on the green list. the green list according to data analyzed by the PC Agency of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
