Maryville – Georgia Lee Rinkel embarked on her next Heaven adventure with her Guardian Angel on December 31, 2021. We wish everyone in Heaven good luck! She was born in Los Angeles, California to George McDaniel and Norma Brenning on June 12, 1926, which made her 95 years old. She had 2 sisters, Evelyn Pharris and Irma Buckner, and had 4 perfect daughters, Deanna McOwan (Alton, IL), Jo Gibbs (Arlington Heights, IL), Yvonne Mueller (Springfield, IL) and Jeannine Randolph (Boston, MA). She also had 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She married a wonderful man, Robert Lee Rinkel, on January 18, 1997 in Glen Carbon, IL. As a teenager, she was a licensed practical nurse who would be the youngest to run a nursing home in Alton, Illinois. She was a dental hygienist, ran a pension called the Hartford Hotel, and retired from SIU School of Dentistry. She has traveled all over the world; ride horses on the side of a cliff in Mexico, visit the rainforest in Costa Rica or simply have a coffee in Florence, Italy. She loved “water aerobics”, as long as her hair didn’t get wet, and ballroom dancing, which was a favorite pastime for her and Robert. She was entertaining and her comments were invaluable. She loved her dogs Jiggers and Buttons. She was well loved and will be sadly missed.
Funeral visitation will be held at Barry Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday January 16, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Church services will take place on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lords Lutheran Church, with a family lunch to follow. Masks are mandatory during both events.
