Roma general manager Tiago Pinto to visit Milan “in the next few hours” to try to speed up the movement of Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.
This is according to journalist Gianluigi Longari, who claim the Italian club are determined to strike a deal for the Swiss star.
Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to Rome for weeks, and he believes Jose Mourinho has made him a priority signing for his new club.
The Swiss midfielder is excited about the move and already has an agreement in place to relocate, but negotiations with Arsenal have not gone smoothly.
Although they are happy to let Xhaka go, they will only do so at a price they consider acceptable, and the Roma have yet to reach that figure.
This means that negotiations have reached their limits in the past two weeks or so, with some reports that Juventus are even ready to come and steal Xhaka after his impressive performance at the Euro.
Roma will want to prevent that from happening, and according to Longari, Pinto is now ‘expected’ travel to Milan in the next few hours for talks.
On its agenda is an attempt to “Speed up the negotiations” which are already underway, including the one with Arsenal for Xhaka.
This suggests that the deal is far from over; in fact, the Roma seem determined to do it, and Pinto is now on the move to make it happen.
