âMy father didn’t want a second daughter; he wanted a son, so he asked my mother to give me to an orphanage. When I was 20 days old, my mother left her marital home. And my father never inquired about me after that, âsays Pooja Chopra, who fought her first circumstances with remarkable resilience.
Model, beauty contest winner and actress (Aiyaary, Commando), Pooja adds: âI grew up very quickly. Even though I was a tomboy in my growing years, it takes a long time for me to trust a man and include him in my inner circle.
List three things that no one knows about you.
1. I wash my hands billions of times a day. I always carried a disinfectant in my bag.
2. I can’t swim even though I was Miss India and comfortable in a swimsuit.
3. I only started driving last year because my driver couldn’t show up for work and there was no other option to shop for groceries.
Do you like watching TV in the bedroom?
My mom wouldn’t allow me to have a TV in my room because I wouldn’t get out of bed. Today, with all the meetings and narration on Zoom, I found a solution – I watch web series / movies on my iPad under my duvet.
Do you sleep with a night light on?
I need total darkness so I have blackout curtains. So I can sleep even though there is a trumpet blowing around me.
Who has the ultimate chamber eyes?
Chris Evans. He posts videos with his dog and the way the dog looks at him! Even the dog can’t resist it!
Who is your 2 a.m. friend?
I have a friend at 8 am, my mom!
What’s the coolest thing about being an actor?
It is an opportunity to give life to characters who were until then only on paper.
Describe yourself in a hashtag.
What are your beauty sleep hours?
I sleep at 11 p.m. and wake up at 8 a.m. – I sleep soundly.
What’s your favorite side of the bed?
I keep moving around the bed because I have the whole king size bed to myself.
What are you wearing in bed?
Do you like to be alone after waking up?
I am a morning person and happy when I wake up. When I travel with friends, they wonder how I’m doing.
This or that?
Shopping destination or adventure?
Shopping destinations. I am clear that my trip is either to a beautifully picturesque or architecturally grandiose place, or to a shopping destination like Paris or Milan.
Accept fate or try to change fate?
I accept my fate but that doesn’t mean that I don’t work towards what I want. If I get it, so much the better; if I don’t, I don’t wallow. I tell myself that there are better.
Minimalist bedside table or clutter?
My bedside table is messy but has everything I need – from lip balm to moisturizing hand cream, headphones and the script for the movie I’m working on.
